Our Commitment
Auricle is a private journaling app. Your thoughts are yours. We built Auricle with privacy as a core value — not a checkbox. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or share your journal entries with third parties.
What We Collect
- Journal entries: Your voice recordings, transcriptions, and AI reflections. Stored encrypted in our database.
- Account information: Email address (or social auth identifier) used to authenticate you.
- Photos: Images you attach to entries. Stored in our secure cloud storage.
- Usage metadata: Entry counts, word counts, timestamps — used to generate your insights. Not shared externally.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide the Auricle service to you:
- Transcribing your voice recordings (via OpenAI Whisper)
- Generating AI follow-up questions and reflections based on your entries (via OpenAI GPT-4o)
- Converting AI questions to speech (via OpenAI TTS)
- Generating weekly summaries and insights
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS and isolated with Row-Level Security in our Supabase database. Only your authenticated account can access your entries. We do not offer end-to-end encryption because AI features must process your entries on our servers.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate Auricle:
- Supabase: Database and authentication
- OpenAI: Transcription, AI question and reflection generation, text-to-speech
- Stripe: Payment processing
Each service operates under their own privacy policies. We share only the minimum data required to provide the service.
Your Rights
You can export or delete your data at any time from within the app (Settings → Export / Delete account). Upon deletion, your entries, recordings, and account data are permanently removed.
